50 dangerous years that shook the world and how today’s great

If you think that you are living in really scary times, then spare a thought for those who lived from 1914-64, modern history’s most dangerous period ever. During these 50 years that shook the world, we saw two World Wars that saw the loss of more than a 100 million lives. It saw the invention of the atomic bomb which was used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and then came the even deadlier Hydrogen bomb.

It saw the Korean War where America and China almost came close to conflict. It saw the Cuban Missile Crisis, where America and USSR almost came to war. It saw the Partition of both India and Palestine—These problems exist till the present day and are now even nuclear flashpoints.

More importantly it saw the reign of three of the greatest mass murderers in world history—Mao, Stalin and Hitler—who together directly or indirectly killed more than 100 million people.

While the H1NI Swine Flu scare of 2009-10 claimed less than 20,000 lives worldwide, the 1918 flu epidemic led to the deaths of up to 100 million people—that’s about 5% of the population of the world at that time!

In fact it was an era where everything happened in millions. The toll of the 1931 China floods was 4 million. The Bengal famine of 1943 also may have seen up to 4 million dead. The Great Chinese Famine of 1959-61 saw 15 million deaths.

It was also catastrophic for the Muslim world because the last great Muslim empire or Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire collapsed in 1918. The Muslim world knowingly and unknowingly feels that vacuum and groups like Islamic State try to take advantage of that.

Americans saw their Vietnam War begin in the 1950s and there was the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s. For the Chinese angle, both the Tibet and Taiwan problems were created in these 50 years. The era’s Holocaust still weighs heavily on the Jewish mind.

Finally, don’t forget—This era also had the Great Depression which destroyed the world economy!

…in 1910 we stepped back. Within fifty years, you’d brought us World War I, the Depression, Fascism, the Holocaust and capped it off by bringing the entire planet to the brink of destruction in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

This was written in January 2016 and here’s an addendum on how blessed we are living in today’s age…

1. There has been no World War for 73 years. Isn’t that great? Before World War I, Great Wars were common and genocides were common (100 million plus may have been killed by the Europeans alone in the Americas). Then there was just 21 years difference between the end of World War I and the beginning of World War II. Forget get a World War, there is nothing that can even be called a Great War for 73 years and counting.

2. Imagine America conquering Iraq and making it its 51st State with an American Governor. Then imagine Syria becoming the 52nd State and so on. Well that’s what used to happen in the past. We take the era of independent nation states for granted and forget that the age of empires and colonies mercifully ended in 1945. We can’t have Hitler-Alexander-type conquests today.

3. Global murder rate is at an all-time low. Cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker wrote a book called The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined, the title of which is self-explanatory. He found that violence is down and the human race is getting more and more civilized contrary to what you think.
When man shifted from a hunter gatherer community to an agricultural one, the violent deaths decreased 5-fold. But from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century Pinker checked Europe, where records are well-kept, and found a 10 to 50-fold drop in homicides. The rate continues even today.

4. Life expectancy up. In 1900, the average life expectancy was 31 and in 1950 it was 48. Today it is 70+. Overall violence is down, people are living longer and healthier.

5. Abject poverty rate crashing. From the 1990s to 2010s, more than 100 million Indians have dropped out of poverty while the similar rate for China is a stellar 700 million plus. Almost all the countries are reducing the number of their poor, just some at a faster rate than others.

6. Lower classes finally have access to full information thanks to mobiles. This is probably the most important of all. For most of the human race, the lower classes had no access to information. Now anyone who has an access to a cheap smartphone has access to all the information of the world, entertainment and even power of making his case heard through social media. This is another thing which we simply take for granted.

Conspiracy theorist: Don’t worry. He will withdraw any time soon!
Citizen: He’s not withdrawing!

Conspiracy theorist: He can’t win the Republican ticket, even if he does, the party will stop him via the brokered convention.
Citizen: He’s the Republican candidate!

Conspiracy theorist: Relax: He can’t beat Hillary.
Citizen: He’s drawing larger crowds! He’s more popular! He’s more charismatic!

Conspiracy theorist: Relax! He’ll probably win the popular vote but the Electoral College win is impossible!
Citizen: He’s won!

Conspiracy theorist: Well there’s still an outside chance that the Electoral College will reject him or you never know, he may not want to be President. He never wanted to be in the first place.
Citizen: He’s President!

Conspiracy theorist: Don’t worry, he’ll either be impeached or quit in frustration.
Citizen: It’s the second half of 2019 and nothing seems to be happening!

Conspiracy theorist: Don’t worry, he’s a Hitler supported by Nazis and he has to quit or HE WILL BE IMPEACHED!
Citizen: I think he’s winning a second term!

The dubious dilemma of the drowning American Democrats

Recently, New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo threatened to sue if Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

That absurd statement sums up the plight of the American Democratic party, as this imaginary conversation shows…

Democrat: We will sue the Supreme Court!
Advisor: But sir, the Supreme Court is the highest court of the land. Who will we go to sue them?

Democrat: Then we’ll impeach them!
Advisor: But sir, the Senate is with the Republicans.

Democrat: Then we’ll use the House of Representatives to apply pressure.
Advisor: But sir, the House of Representatives is also with the Republicans!

Democrat: Then we’ll use the States to topple the Centre!
Advisor: But sir, nearly two-thirds of the States are also with the Republicans!

Democrat: Then we’ll go to the people!
Advisor: But sir, if the White House, Senate, House of Representatives and nearly two-thirds of the States are with the Republicans, then doesn’t it mean that most of the people have been voting Republican?

Democrat: Then we’ll start a Civil War! We will take charge! Resist! Fight the Nazis! Defeat them!
Advisor: But sir, the other side have almost all the guns and also won the last Civil War decisively.

Democrat: We will confiscate all the guns!
Advisor: But sir, if the Supreme Court, White House, Senate, House of Representatives and nearly two-thirds of the States are with the Republicans, then how will you go about in confiscating the guns?

Democrat: Well, let’s start with the States that we do control, we’ll ban all guns there.
Advisor: Then in case of a Civil War, you are making all Democratic States the most vulnerable.

Democrat: Well then we’ll push for a war with Russia. We will push Trump into such a corner by calling him a traitor and push for a confrontation with Putin.
Advisor: But if we actually have war, then it could get him re-elected the way the 2003 Iraq War helped Bush even though it was the most disastrous decision in recent times.

Democrat: You’re a Nazi! You’re sacked! Victory is ours!

Get it 100% wrong, keep predicting, keep preaching and keep getting paid big bucks forever

In 2002, They (most media houses plus most pollsters plus most political experts plus most intellectuals plus most TV news stars plus most everybody else who had a voice and allegedly mattered) said that Modi would lose elections in the face of polarization and end his political career.
Not only did Modi win, but he is the biggest political figure well into 2018.

In 2004, They said that Vajpayee and the NDA would make a return and Advani would make Prime Minister and Sonia’s political career was over.
The NDA lost, Vajpayee’s career ended, Advani’s career virtually ended, Sonia virtually became a dictator for 10 years and now They are desperately trying to prop up a failed Sonia for 2019.

In 2007, They said Modi would lose as there was no 2002-like polarization.
(The theory was retro-fitted. First it explained why he would lose. Then it was attributed to his win!).
Modi won handsomely and cemented his place in Gujarat and firmly launched his career as a national leader.

In 2009, They said that since Modi couldn’t win most of his State Lok Sabha seats, his national ambitions had officially ended.
Not only did Modi make a comeback, but he is the biggest national political figure well into 2018.

In 2009, They said that UPA would probably just about scrape through and would be heavily reliant on all the allies for many many years to come. It was a new era of collation politics.
Congress jumped from 145 Lok Sabha seats to 206 and gave a royal kick to all their allies and virtually ruled alone for 5 years and the BJP government that followed also had no need for allies.

In the 2012 UP Assembly polls, They predicted a hopelessly hung Assembly.
Unsurprisingly the SP stormed to a clear majority.

For Modi and 2014, They made umpteen predictions…
Forget BJP, even NDA won’t get 272!
The BJP will never make Modi their PM candidate.
The allies will never accept Modi.
The common man will never accept Modi.
He can never let go the ghost of Godhra.
After 2014…
The Modi wave is over.
He will never be able to function in New Delhi.
The way all these predictions, assertions and prophecies got smashed to smithereens is not funny, it’s farcical.

In 2014, They couldn’t even sniff a BJP landslide in Haryana or an NDA government in J&K.

In 2015, They were nowhere near predicting 67/70 seats for AAP in Delhi.

They made absolute fools of themselves in Bihar in 2015 and predicted both a BJP landslide and a Mahagatbandhan landslide. One poll gave such a wide margin that it predicted a win for BJP, a loss for BJP and a hung house!

Now they are telling us that the Modi wave is over and he will be beaten in 2019 and I guess we have no choice but to believe them!

Bonus: International edition…

Brexit can’t happen.
Right parties can’t come to power in Europe.
Trump isn’t serious.
Trump will withdraw from the Presidential race.
Trump can’t win the Republican nomination.
Trump can’t beat Hillary.
After becoming President, Trump will either be impeached or resign.
Trump will start a nuclear war with North Korea.

Fact. Israel is pro-India. Palestine is pro-Pakistan (& anti-India).

India historically always diplomatically attacked Israel…

1. India was the only non-Muslim country from the Asia-Pacific region to vote against the creation of Israel in 1947 even though it had just won its Independence from the British.

2. Indira Gandhi openly wooed Palestine Liberation Organization leader even though many considered it a terrorist organization and shared excellent personal ties with PLO leader Yasser Arafat.

3. India refused to have anything to do with Israel till 1991. Even after 1991, while India benefited greatly from Israel in bilateral ties, it tried to keep everything behind the scenes, a sort of backdoor diplomacy. A Prime Minister of India officially visited India only in 2017.

Despite that Palestine always abuses India…

1. Palestinian Abdullah Yusuf Azzam was a co-founder of the dreaded Lashkar-e-Taiba which has been involved with the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2003 Nadimarg Massacre, the 2005 Delhi bombings, the 2006 Varanasi bombings, the 2006 Doda massacre and many many more.

2. In 2015, the then President Pranab Mukherjee had to cancel his visit to Al Quds University as Palestinian students protested him, got violent and there were also reported incidents of stone pelting.

3. Recently the Palestinian ambassador to Pakistan shared a stage with anti-Indian terrorist Hafiz Saeed, who was also one of the co-founders of the above mentioned LeT.

4. One of his predecessors had equated Palestine with Kashmir.

5. Pan Am air hostess Neerja Bhanot, who posthumously got the Ashok Chakra, was killed at the hands of hijackers and terrorists who were fighting for the Palestinian cause.

6. The West Bank is ruled by Hamas, a terrorist organization. Even the Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas did his PhD in Holocaust denial.

Despite everything Israel always helped India…

1. Israel always tried to have friendly relations with India.

2. Israel helped India with arms on the eve of the 1971 war.

3. Israel did the same during the 1999 Kargil war.

4. India has given great help to India in the fields of military, security and agriculture.

5. When Modi visited Israel in 2017, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally greeted him when he arrived; he rarely does that, and spent the whole trip with him cancelling all other appointments.

There is a concept called Rajyog, a period in which a king will reign and flourish, while all his enemies will perish. Those who ally with him will prosper and those oppose him will bite the dust. I had written about this in The spectacular international Rajyog of Narendra Modi.

Now one could say that the same has been happening to US President Donald J Trump. Trump has always been a bull in a china shop. First, Trump steamrolled real estate, then reality TV, then the Republican nomination process, then the US Presidential election, then America and finally the world.

He just seems unstoppable. He’s put the first nail in the coffin of Obamacare. The “Climate Change” bogey has been kicked in its pants. Political correctness has been thrown out of the window. Jerusalem will be the official capital of Israel.

The economy is looking up along with the job prospects. He is giving a fillip to Make in America, the energy industry and he’s even trying to push manufacturing and the IT industry. He’s also the first President who’s really trying to drain the swamp.

In 2017 he has come out with one executive order after another and also pushed a fair bit of legislation and he is totally on the path to keep most of his election promises, a rarity for any politician.

As mentioned above, during a Rajyog, all your enemies perish and boy does Trump have many! A look at how all of them are faring…

The Democratic Party: When Barack Obama came to the US Presidency, it seemed that a Democratic dictatorship was upon America, but when he left, it seemed like we are headed for a Republican dictatorship. Obama was the worst President ever.

The Republican Party has never been this powerful since its inception in the middle of the nineteenth century. It now controls the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court and has most of the Governorships and State legislatures. That upward trend was cemented by Trump.

The extremely popular Bernie Sanders is still sidelined, lame duck Obama continues to overshadow everyone, Hillary Clinton refuses to go away as the rest of the Democratic Party is in total disarray.

Hollywood: Hollywood is hard Left, full Liberal and the ultimate Trump Hateland. Well it is now sinking in sexual molestation charges starting with the Harvey Weinstein revelations. So many stars face sexual misconduct allegations: Ben Affleck, Woody Allen, Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal, Oliver Stone, Sylvester Stallone, Dustin Hoffman, Geoffrey Rush, Richard Dreyfuss, George Takei, Alec Baldwin, Roman Polanski…

Phew! What a roll call (it tops 100, according to some lists) and what a fall for a bunch of people who have been shouting from the rooftops that Trump is a Hitler, a Nazi and an anti-woman monster!

Trump haters like Shia Lebouf have seen a total mental breakdown while the likes of Jennifer Lawrence are seeing their career go up in flames. Supreme moral guardian Meryl Streep looks like a royal fool blasting Trump 24X7 but doing business and hobnobbing with Hollywood molesters 24X7 at the same time.

Hollywood is also killing off golden gooses like the Star Wars franchise. Ticket sales are also at an all-time low and US 2017 sales have matched that of those sold in 1995 even though the population has increased and there has been an explosion of multiplexes. Outright box office disaster has been saved by much higher ticket prices, especially thanks to 3D, but for how long can they sustain it? One wonders how long can they go on without an extra creativity and the same ole sequels and reboots.

Mainstream media: The biggest attackers of Trump, they were all the virtual campaign arm of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US Presidential race. Nobody told them that Hillary lost in 2016 as they continue to campaign for her even as 2018 is upon us.

The ratings of CNN have crashed. The AT&T deal with Time Warner (of which CNN is a part) has been blocked. The New York Times had to rent many floors of its office space to raise cash. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos owns Washington Post and is a CIA contractor.

Buzzfeed is under federal scrutiny for its role in the golden shower dossier. Trump hater Ariana Huffington couldn’t even hold on to her Huffington Post. A new wave of Alt Media has already beaten traditional media in terms of page views and YouTube views and one wonders how much longer the advertisers can keep them propped up.

I had written his in detail in The men who killed the mainstream media. After the Weinstein scandal, skeletons are also tumbling out of the sexual harassment cupboard of the mainstream media. The MSM is also committing suicide over the fake and bullshit Russia story.

NFL: What has the National Football League got to do with Trump? Well it all started with Colin Kaepernick taking a knee during the national anthem before a game to protest against racism. That metamorphosed into a full-on battle between the NFL (mostly through its players, some officials and commentators) and Trump.

Predictably Kaepernick soon found himself out of a job, TV viewership went into decline, spectator attendance started falling in stadiums, sponsors started developing cold feet and revenues declined. There was even a viral video of a fan burning all his NFL merchandise.

Megyn Kelly/Fox: Megyn of Fox asked this question to Trump at the beginning of the Republican nomination process…

“You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals…”

This was the beginning of an interrogation that should have ended Trump’s Presidency dreams right there. Trump would either have to deny it or apologize and both would have sunk him. However Trump raised his finger with a swagger and replied…

“Only Rosie O’Donnell!”

The crowd went wild. That was the beginning of his rise and that swagger took him straight to the White House. Megyn on the other hand went on a downward spiral being humiliated by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and then Vladimir Putin. Her show ratings plummeted.

Fox News was lagging and then jumped on the Trump train and ended up on top of the ratings. Media mogul Rupert Murdoch was a Trump hater but changed tack. But the damage was done. Murdoch just announced the sale of Fox Entertainment to Disney. While he’s gained a lot of money, he’s just lost a lot of power.

Islamic State: What became the Islamic State was gathering around for more than a decade and gained force in 2013. Islamic State attacked and had called for the assassination of Trump. Guess what? After Trump became President, they started waning and today control hardly any territory and have become just another declining mobile terrorist group like Al-Qaeda.

Iran: Israel is America’s best military and strategic and friend in West Asia while Saudi Arabia is the best Capitalistic-oil partner there. Obama tried to kick them both and embrace Iran, giving them tonnes of cash and letting them go nuclear.

But now Trump has put the squeeze back on Iran and embraced the above two. What’s more, Israel and Saudi Arabia have formed a sort of unofficial partnership. Jerusalem has been recognized as the official capital of Israel.

The Israel-Saudi duo is calling shots in the region and Iran has been left out in the cold. Iran is increasingly becoming powerless and could face military action against it in the long run.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal: This Saudi prince was one of the most powerful and richest men in the world, the biggest shareholder in Twitter. He also had stakes in Apple, AOL and Fox Broadcasting.

Then he Tweeted this to Trump…

In 2017, Al-Waleed was arrested, lost a good part of his income and according to one report was hung upside down and beaten. Very few Obama-Hillary sympathizers and Trump haters are left in power in the Saudi government.

Hillary Clinton: She had Obama, the Democratic Party, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, the mainstream media, liberals, intelligentsia, academics… all eating out of her hands but now thanks to Trump she stands isolated and is a laughing stock. A lot of scandals related to Obama-Hillary are coming out of the closet and it remains to be seen whether Trump takes any action against them.

James Comey: Comey became the all-powerful FBI director in 2013 and was looking at completing his 10-year term and hired a Special Counsel to fix Trump. Well Trump shocked Comey by promptly firing him.

Celebrities: Eminem, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Michael Moore, Lena Dunham, Cher, JK Rowling… The huge number of Trump hating celebrities who faced total meltdown and became laughing stocks in 2017 was really alarming.

Theresa May: When the UK Prime Minister blasted Trump over some of his ReTweets over Islamic threats, Trump thundered back…

.@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!

Today May is hated by the people of England, her own party and her own people. Add the dangerous Trump to her list. Now trade wise UK may be squeezed by both the EU and America on both sides and really suffer. People keep attacking Trump and never learn.

United Nations: All world leaders hate Trump and the UN symbolizes that perfectly. Well Trump is hitting back and has started rolling back aid to the UN over the Jerusalem issue and this is just the beginning of the decline of the UN.

Angela Merkel: Another Trump hater who was at her peak of power before Trump entered the Presidential race in 2015 and is becoming more and more irrelevant as Trump’s Presidency progresses. She is struggling to stay the Chancellor of Germany in a badly fractured coalition government.

The Republican leadership: Senior Republican leaders hated Trump, but they are being blown away. If you align yourself with Trump, you win, if you attack him you lose. This is a bitter lesson that the Republican Party is learning and is slowly moulding itself in the image of Trump.

Trump is also the biggest attacker of concepts like…

Communism: Many political parties. Mainstream media. Academia. Colleges. intelligentsia. Film makers and artists. They all leaned severely Left and were by and large left alone by Rightist leaders like George W Bush and backed to the hilt by Obama-Hillary. However Communism is being taken head on by Trump who is and out and out Capitalist.

Political Correctness: A pet obsession of the Left, it has already been thrown into the dustbin.

Social Justice Warriors: They’ve never had it so bad and are frothing in rage 24X7 after the advent of Trump.

Globalization: Was a one-way street before Trump happened. Now the global leaders who were pushing globalization unilaterally are facing a backlash and localization is coming back, albeit slowly.

Unfettered immigration: Seemed to be the future but now many countries are having second thoughts one by one.

Climate Change: Trump withdrew from the Paris accord and is backing the oil lobby to the hilt. This lobby was always suspect.
