In the ancient times that you mention, opportunities to achieve greatness were only a few and thus the scope of celebrityhood limited. In the times we live in, a 13-episode reality show or a provoking speech can make one a celebrity. Well, not a hero though. Heroes are comparatively less in number than the celebrities but the changed definition of heroism has opened more opportunities than there ever were. With so much scope, we have too many heroes to worship, and with an ever-increasing number of heroes, we cannot promise to remember them always.
